Saguaro Cactus
Saguaro Cactus, found only in southeast California, southern Arizona, and adjacent northwestern Mexico, can grow up to 50 feet in height usually with several arms that curve upwards. It only grows an inch a year, meaning the larger ones are estimated to be 200 years old, with a waxy smooth skin and covered with two inch long spines that grow in clusters. Despite their large size, the Saguaro has a small root system that makes them manageable to move, thus near a construction project you'll find a group of them placed in rows ready for resale. The Saguaro flower at the top of their long 18 to 24 inch diameter columnar stem that ripens to a delicious and craved fruit just before fall.
